I recently thought about it...I cook 12 meals a day. That is, most of the time. How do I do it? Honestly, I don't fold my laundry. Laugh, but its true, just ask my husband Dave. He has to take his shirts to the cleaners to have them pressed. One of the greatest inventions is wrinkle free fabrics...and the dryer of course--10 minutes and wrinkle free.
Most of the time I feel like a diner. On any given day I cook one breakfast for Dave and myself another for my son Joe, another for my other son Charlie and yes, I home cook for the dog, Kingston...he gets breakfast too.
Then there's lunch. I send Dave off each morning with lunch...I know, I'm a regular June Cleaver, only not. I make two separate lunches for my two darling, but finicky boys, and then I get to eat, of course.
Moving along to dinner. Again, I make one meal for myself and Dave, one for each boy and yet another for the stinkin' dog. That makes 12, I think...I was not blessed with math skills. Not to mention all the snacks throughout the day.
Whats a mom going to do with 12 meals a day? Get smart. It has taken me some time - 5 years- to devise a routine that saves time and money. Not to take too much credit, this has not been a go-it-alone journey through the isles of Safeway. Quite the contrary, my quest for the how-to of home cooking has come from cornering, questioning, debating, and listening to my many friends and through them (and trial and error) I have come up with a plan that is efficient.

12 meals a day, wow! Hey, Amanda how are things going for you and Dave? OK, so Royce and I are embarking on our own home-cooked meals journey now that Ben's eating solids. And, boy, it he eating! Anyway, any tips and short cuts that are time-savers? What does your day look like hour by hour re: planning, shopping, prepping, and cooking? Anything you MUST have in the pantry to make things easier? Since I'm back to work during the day, I feel like so much of my time is spent prepping and cooking in the little time I have after school! I could use some shortcut advice. I'm committed to home-cooked meals but it seems like Ben eats healthier than Royce and I combined. (BiggyShorty The Wonder Mutt is not as lucky - she gets dry kibble and whatever falls from Ben's highchair. I'd swear they're in cahoots.)
Take care!
