So here's a tip. This might be old news to you but I just recently learned this helpful tip. Put your berries in Tupperware.
I am lucky to live in northern CA where fresh fruits and vegetables are available year round. I buy my fruit in bulk at the local produce stand. I go there every Monday morning with two large boxes and I load them with all my fruits and veggies for the entire week.
Since many fresh fruits don't last that long we eat them in order: berries first followed by grapes, plums, nectarines, and on to melons, etc. That was until two weeks ago when a girlfriend was over and said, "your berries will last longer if you put them in Tupperware". Huh, that's a novel thought. Geez, why didn't I think of that before, its not brain surgery.
I'm happy to report that its Friday and my "tuperweared" strawberries are as fresh as they were on Monday....and that's saying a lot considering they were extremely ripe and ready to eat when I bought them.

Another hint - use as flat and large of a container as you can muster (i.e. a 9x13 tupperware cake container). Place one layer of papertowels, then a single layer of strawberries, then a layer of paper towels and second layer of strawberries. With this size of a container I can hold about 1/2 of a flat of strawberries. Also, never wash the berries before storing them - they will go bad pronto! Enjoy the berries!
