Sausages Underrated

Gone are the sausages of your grandmother's era. Today's sausages are, well, better. There are many good brands that cater to a health-minded market.
Aidelles Sausages (www.aidells.com)offers fun variety: Portobello, Apple Chicken, Habanero and Green Chile, Artichoke Garlic, and Burmese Curry, just to name a few. Sausages can make a great quick meal. One of Dave's favorite dinner is Evergood's Louisiana Hotlinks served with sauteed onions and bell peppers. I serve it over Near East's couscous which takes about 5 minutes to make. I can have the entire meal done in under 15 minutes flat. A time saver here is buying frozen sliced bell peppers.**

**Fresh is always best, but frozen is a good time saving second.

The recipe (if that's what you want to call it)

1 pkg your choice of sausage, sliced into 1/2 inch sections
1 yellow onion
couple of hand fulls of sliced bell peppers
(you can add any veggie you like)
sauteed with olive oil until the peppers and onions have softened

make couscous (I like Near East but certainly you can make your own)

A fun variation of this is the sausage shish-kabob. Cut the sausage in 1 inch pieces and alternate with mushrooms, red onions and fresh bell peppers. Grill until they are done. The kids love to help make this because they get to stab things...win-win!

I like the image of children stabbing food, most excellent release!

PS: Jen sent me here. I encourage you to dish openly and frequently.

Couldn't agree more. We love Aidell's sausages and most packages include a suggested recipe. A favorite of ours is the "red beans and rice" (on the Andouille sausage package, I think) which is super quick and uses ingredients right out of the pantry.
