I thought I would open up my food pantry/cupboard. I only have one, and its small. I don't ever have much in it because nothing I buy lasts very long on a shelf. It's also the way I save money-I buy what we eat. I don't stock up for the winter, I don't believe Armageddon is coming anytime soon, and the likely hood of a natural disaster where I live is slim to none.
So for all you looki-loo's here is a snap shot of my cupboard (and I did not straighten it up).

If you can't see, there's a variety of random Bob's Red Mill flour. A myriad of grains, nuts, and some beans both dry and 1 can. I have a couple of cartons of chicken broth, some cans of plain tomato sauce, a 2 year old box of malt-o-meal (which should probably be thrown out). On my counter, next to the cooking wines, is a toaster over--we are a NO MICROWAVE home. To the right of that is a box of Kashi Mighty Bites for the kiddo's. To the right of that is some oranges and a loaf of bread....and that's about it. How do I feed the fam high quality food on a budget? I buy what we need. period.
Now, my spice cabinet is a other story....it's packed!
