goodness, I just scrolled down your page and noticed on the GoogleAd words below that McDonalds menu was one of the links! EEK! May want to reconsider those ad words? LOL

As for the menu, looks great (yours, not McD) ;)

NP- Good question! I typically grocery shop on Fridays (sometimes Saturday). Friday's are my days to scout sales/prices, etc. Fridays usually fall into one of the following categories:

1. a day that we eat leftovers, or something put together using leftovers.

2. (Most of the time) we make something I buy that day.

3. Often I go out with my girlfriends. I have a great group of girlfriends and we enjoy good food and wine together fairly regularly.

I typically do plan Saturdays dinner too, at least on my list, because that works for us. I dont post it because its after the fact. Saturdays are a day that we do a lot of BBQing. Hubby loves the bbq, and we love to eat his bbq.

Laura- That is too funny. When I worked in politics I worked for a very moral Senator (yes there are a few). One time an organization that was fundamentally polar opposite of our ideals donated money to his campaign. It was shock and awe for his staff--we were all disappointed that he did not return the money. He said to us:

When someone gives your campaign money they are saying they support YOUR cause, not the other way around.

I know that doesn’t always fly in politics, but I do think it's a valid point if you are principled.

I often see sell outs, both in politics and health. Bob Green IMO, is a sell out. What he says in his book and the products he supports are sometimes contradictory. Tiger Woods: I wouldn’t say Tiger is a total sell out—he does give most of his endorsement money to his foundation. But Tiger is a health nut and there is no way that a health nut drinks the Gatorade he endorses. It’s full of chemicals and dyes that are counterintuitive to health.

So Mc’D’s can go ahead and support me bashing them. I’m not changing, nor am I a sell-out!

Oooh this week looks tasty - really interested in your carrot soup recipe!
Also, excellent point about the McD ad - I wrote a blog posting for tomorrow that talks about the same thing with Michael Phelps.

I'm also excited about the recipe for the carrot soup. This is one thing I've tried and not been very fond of in the past -- but it seems like SUCH a good idea! Do share if you can.

I am going to try this recipe. looks easy and good.

Carrot Soup Recipe courtesy Emeril Lagasse, 2002

2 tablespoons butter
1 onion, chopped
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
2 apples, peeled, cored, and diced
4 carrots, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch pieces
1 cup white wine
1 quart chicken stock
1 teaspoon cumin
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Chopped chives, as garnish

Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Add onion and garlic and saute until softened, about 4 minutes. Add apple and carrots and saute for 2 minutes. Carefully add the white wine, chicken, stock, and cumin. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer and cook until the apples and carrots are soft, about 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and puree with an immersion blender or, in batches, in a blender. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper. Garnish with chives and serve.
