Honest Scrap

I received this "award" from Lori over at Peef and Lo, also known as Burp! Where Foods Happens back in December. It's taken me a while to muster up the 10 interesting things about myself....frankly, don't find myself all that interesting. In fact, "becoming interesting" is my New Years resolution. I haven't put much effort into actually becoming interesting so I guess that still makes me boring!

Thank you Lori for thinking of me, you have a great blog with wonderful recipes.

Honest Scrap:

The honorees are to: a) first list 10 honest things about yourself - and make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep! B) pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap.

1. I hate hugging. Dont even think about it--you can pat me on the arm or back or shake my hand. But no hugs. Sometimes, in social situations I tell people that I hate hugging after they have just hugged me. They look at me as if I am either weird or rude. but I dont care.

2. I often feel compelled to write former employers and apologize for being a spaz. The last time I worked in an office I was 27 (in the state legislature) and I am sure I was a total spaz.

3. I have no idea what it is like to not have multiple thoughts running through my brain at all times. I have tried yoga (got asked not to come back by the instructor), I have tried meditation (found it annoying), I've tried reading Eckart Tolle (can't get past chapter 2). The closest thing to slowing down that I can do is taking long walks with my dog along the American River....and even then I'm still having hundreds of brilliant thoughts! I'm sure that it's some sort of ADD or OCD, but oh well, that's life.

4. I find the best thing about parenting is brainwashing. I want to take my kids around the world and show them how other people live in order for them to appreciate the easy life they live. For now I will just continue to show them pictures of starving kids in Africa on the Internet.

5. I am always sarcastic. I value sarcasm above all other personality traits. I teach my kids sarcasm daily.

6. I always say what is on my mind. Some find it refreshing others find it annoying. I'm fine with that.

7. I can function just fine on as little as two hours sleep. Ideally I would get 4 to 6...any more than that and I feel like I am wasting time.

8. I find that no one can tell the difference between real and fake confidence. So I just pretend that I am confident in everything I do. Seems to work well for me. However, I can totally identify with Tina Fey when she said (paraphrase) that her confidence outweighs her abilities.

9. I am fully aware that I am stubborn and head strong....some might view those traits as difficult, but I like to say that I am a leader. Want to follow?

10. When my first grader came home in tears because, as he put it, was the "stupidest kid in spelling" I taught him to spell really bad words and told him that his vocabulary was now way ahead of the rest of the class in order to boost his confidence. When he got in trouble for saying one of those bad words in class I blamed it on my husband.

Here's who I am passing this award along too:

Bunny over at Bunny's Warm Oven. She always makes the most delicious treats.

Michelle at What Does a Body Good. Because I fell in love with her blog after reading her tag line: "because soda is soooo 1993"

Eat! Dinners for a Year and Beyond. She always has great recipes.

Vehement Flame. I am new to her blog and am really enjoying her recipes.

Kevin over at Closet Cooking. He takes the most beautiful pictures of food.

Yeah, you were most definitely a spaz at the legislature. but that just meant you fit in perfectly.
