Last weeks meal plan got a little derailed. The kids were off of school and we ended up spending most of the week traveling to San Fransisco and Tahoe (the beauty of living in Sacramento is its close proximity to both).
Although we ate well in San Fransisco, Tahoe was another story, and now I feel the need to switch to a lighter, "Cleansing Diet".
The Bauman College Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts philosophy on food is called Eating For Heath, which emphasizes three patterns of eating: Cleansing, Balancing, and Building. For more information on Eating For Health click over to Eat Your Roots and subscribe to the monthly newsletter. The March edition will focus on this topic.
Sunday- Roasted Veg over mixed greens and a side of grilled chicken
Monday- Tortellini picnic salad w/ sun dried tomatoes on a bed of butter leaf lettuce
Tuesday- Taco Salad w/ black beans (no meat)
Wednesday- Halibut with a diavolo sauce, spinach, and wild rice
Thursday- Mini burgers with avocado, grilled onions and mushrooms with a wild rice salad on a bed of greens.
Friday- Tomato Soup (still have some of last summers bounty) and whatever leftover salad
As usual, my lunches will all be vegetarian....mostly soups and salads.

Thanks for the useful references, as always. Have been craving a good taco salad myself, so we might have to consider that for this week.
Hope you had a nice week of traveling!
Amanda, we are traveling to AZ near Tucson and we have a nephew in Sacramento CA and are thinking of also making it there for a visit. What are some places to see in Sacremento you would recommend? Would a drive from Sacremento to SF be too much to add?
Thank you for your nice site.
Carol
Hi Carol. Do you like history? Sacramento is home to the CA Gold Rush. There are many nearby cities, like placerville, coloma and Auburn (all about 40 minutes outside of Sac) that are home to the "Motherload". Rich with history.
Old Sac is a must see at least once (Do you watch the show Big Love? This past episode which aired on 2/22 was filmed in old Sac). California's State Capitol is right there too in Downtown Sac. It's a beautiful building and I could arange a private tour if you are interested. My husband works there.
SF is about about 1 hour and 45 minutes away. I like to pasrk in Richmond and take the Ferry boat over. Its a great way to enter SF, and you really dont want to try to drive or find parking in that city. Cabs, public transit, and walking are the best ways to the SF.
Napa about the same distance...maybe a little less.
Wine tasting is also popular in the "motherload areas" of Amador and El Dorado counties.
Lake Tahoe is also about 1.5 hours East of here.
Sacramento also boasts many wonderful museums including the Crocker Art, CA History and womens museum. http://www.sacmuseums.org/
And there are many wonderful resturants especially downtown.
Hope that helps, let me know if you need other info!
Thanks so much. Looks like the end of March/first week of April. I'll be in touch when we decide. Carol
