I tout the use of whole grains constantly in the classes I teach or just about to anyone who will listen. I cook or consume whole grains in some form almost every day. To my surprise, I rarely post about them....I just realized after looking through the recipes! Sorry!
No longer. From now on you are going to be overloaded with grain recipes. YUM!
One of my favorite ways to consume LEFTOVER grains (and veg) is with an egg in the morning. It is one of my staple breakfasts. Hardy and healthy, it might be the perfect meal.
Below is one egg, asparagus, red onions, and brown rice from Massa Organics. After tasting their brown rice, you really understand that all grains are NOT created equal.
Because we don't own a microwave, I heat them up on the stove with a little olive oil or butter, salt and pepper.
Super YUM.

oh yum! We just had lentils and ice for dinner and I always hope there is extra to fry up with some eggs in the morning- I totally agree with you on the leftovers with egg!! I am looking forward to your grain recipes and thanks for the link to massa organics.
No matter how hard I try, I am yet to fall in love with brown rice.
Good to hear about grains, but equally as good to hear about ways to use leftovers! About brown rice--do you soak to rid of phytic acid? Or am I overly worried about that?
Good idea.
We never seem to have many grains leftover... but I'm always sad. Eating it for breakfast... or as fried rice.. SO GOOD.
I do soak my grains 90% of the time. Another trick is to cook them with too much water and then dump it out after the grains are fully cooked...cheating a little.
could you pretty please post sometime about how you soak your grains- especially to grind for flour- I just got my nutrimill recently(thanks for the advice) and I'm lovin it- but I don't want to ruin it by trying to grind improperly soaked and dried grains...also could you sometime explain Nixtamalization..sorry that's alot.
Hi VF-- I haven't forgotten about this, just working on a bigger article about this subject.
