(Mild Italian Peppers perfect for stuffing and putting on the grill)
I am at a crossroads. Do I take the Road Less Traveled or just buy bigger pants? You see, as I approach 35 years of age my metabolism is really starting to slow and now my fat pants are a little tight. It's a frightening sight.
I have been down this road before...the fat road. I gained 70 lbs with back-to-back pregnancies. Can we say super scary. Thankfully, I was able to lose the weight quickly after birthing like a mama-cow by simply continuing to eat well and moderate exercise. I was in my 20's at the time and apparently that makes all the difference.
Now at almost 35, I need to shave off an extra 10lbs of fat to be at my normal weight. In order to get there, and with the support of my awesome Hubster, we have decided to step up our exercise regime and start running. Neither one of us are runners and I really don't like to run. Nevertheless, we're running.
We have set a goal in order to make this little adventure fun, and that has been super motivating. We are running the Cowtown 5k in October. I know it's only 3 miles but did I mention that I hate running. I love walking....can easily walk 5-6 miles a day, but can't run a mile without wanting to die or getting bored.
In order to accomplish our goal, we are following the "Couch to 5k Running Plan" by Josh Clark. This plan is so easy that I forget my disdain for running. That's right, for the first time in my life I am enjoying pounding the pavement at a faster than a snail pace. Will see how my pants fit in October.
Is there anyone out there who wants to run but doesn't think they can? Join me in running a 5k this fall and tell me about your adventures. Share your stories of running. What inspired you? What keeps you motivated? What do you like about running? What do you hate?

Sweetie I think my body would be in total shock if I ran anywhere! LOL!! Yes I can tell you that loosing weight doesn't get any easier the older you get. At 54 it's driving me nuts trying to loose 10 lbs. 10lb lousy pounds, something that in my younger yrs was nothing at all to loose. Menopause is so cruel! LOL!!
Bunny you just made me laugh out loud!
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment! I really enjoyed visiting you and will be adding you to my list of favorite cooking blogs! It does seem that you are the Chicken Whisperer! Good luck on training for the 5k! I am with you. I hate to run. I would only run if my pants were on fire. Since that has never happened to me, I usually just walk. :)
Hi! I've been reading your blog for a while now, but have never commented. I LOVE all your recipes- I always leave your blog drooling ;)
I think I may need to join you in the 5k thing. I hate running a LOT... but I have 30lbs of baby weight that will not budge- and my son just turned 1 last week. This weight just has to go, I am so sick of my extra-fat pants! The program looks simple enough... I think I can do it.
Running is definitely NOT my thing... but I'm telling you, keep with it. :) Of course, I should really be one who is taking some of that advice. Blogging has been horrendous to MY waistline... and I'm also approaching my mid-thirties. Gotta nip that in the bud!!
I just found your blog this morning and love it! We have been slowly incorporating more healthy food choices into our diet for the past year, but now I am trying to get our food budget back down to a more manageable number so my husband can stop having a heart attack! :-) I also love that you started running. I used to be a runner before child #2 and #3. Since then, it has been a little difficult to find the consistent time to put into running. That being said, you have motivated me and reminded me of what fun it can be to run and feel strong. Good for you!
